Free day trading journal for every trade, with no time limit
A free day trading journal from Astro Trading Journal lets you log every day trade with no trade cap and no time limit. It is not a trial.
What the free plan includes
Astro Trading Journal is an iPhone app and a web app on one account.1
There is no trade cap, no account limit and no time limit, and the same journal is on the web. A trade added on the phone shows up there.
Included on the free plan
- Manual entry
- Analytics
- Setups and playbooks
- Trade reflections
- Daily Rewind
- Notes
Log each day trade
In Astro you enter each day trade by hand and tag its setup. You can add a reflection by picking what influenced the trade, such as followed plan, revenge, or FOMO.
Notes sit beside the trade log. A note there can hold headings, lists and an image.
The Journal calendar keeps each trading day with its trades, its trade count and its P/L, so you can open that day later.
In that view, each day of September 2026 is colored by P/L and trade count, and the month P/L is +$1,387.50. Wednesday the 23rd is open, showing a closed TSLA trade at +$85.00.
Review the day
Daily Rewind is the end-of-day check-in on the free plan.
Daily Rewind
- 1.
Go through trades with no reflection
Go through that day's closed trades that have no reflection yet.
- 2.
Rate the plan
Rate how closely the day followed your plan, from 1 (Off plan) to 5 (Fully followed).
- 3.
Mark your rules
Mark each of your own rules as followed, partly followed, or broken.
- 4.
Save the check-in
Save the check-in once the rating and the rule marks are set.
- 5.
See the pattern and the reviewed days
After saving, Daily Rewind can point out one pattern it noticed. A strip shows which recent days were reviewed.
What the free analytics show
Analytics on the free plan work out net and gross P&L, win rate, and average win versus average loss. Drawdown appears once you set a starting balance.
Those results also break down by symbol, asset class, direction, setup and playbook. Setups tagged on trades are grouped into named playbooks you can compare side by side.
Breakdowns
- Symbol: each market on its own, so you can see which markets to drop
- Asset class: forex, stocks, crypto and futures
- Direction: long trades against short trades
- Setup: which tagged approach is ahead on net P&L
- Playbook: named groups of setups, compared side by side
A blank spreadsheet template has none of those figures or breakdowns until you build them.
