Free trading journal with no trade cap on iPhone and the web

Astro Trading Journal is a free trading journal with no trade cap, on iPhone and on the web.

What the free plan includes

Manual entry, analytics, setups and playbooks, trade reflections, Daily Rewind and notes are all on the free plan, on iPhone and on the web. There is no trade, account or time limit.

Daily Rewind is an end-of-day check-in. You go through the day's closed trades that have no reflection yet, rate how well the day followed your plan from 1 (Off plan) to 5 (Fully followed), and mark each of your rules as followed, partly followed, or not followed. After you save, it can point out one pattern it noticed, and a strip shows which recent days were reviewed.

Premium adds broker and exchange sync and unlimited AI Reviews. Sync brings trades in from a connected broker or exchange. Every account gets one AI Review on the free plan.

Log a trade and read the results

Enter a trade by hand and tag its setup. Astro works out net and gross P&L (profit and loss), win rate, and average win against average loss. Drawdown appears once you set a starting balance.

The figures are ready when you save the trade, so there is no spreadsheet template to set up first.

A P/L calendar of the month, with each day's trades one tap away.

The same figures also break down by symbol, asset class, direction, setup and playbook.

Breakdowns

  • Symbol: each market on its own, so you can see which one is ahead on net P&L
  • Asset class: forex, stocks, crypto and futures
  • Direction: long trades against short trades
  • Setup: the tag on a trade, so you can see which approach is ahead on net P&L
  • Playbook: named groups of setups, compared side by side

Reflections and notes

Trade reflections are part of the free journal. You pick what influenced a trade from 18 influences. Some are behavior influences, such as followed plan, revenge, FOMO (fear of missing out), rushed, hesitated and overtraded. Others are mindset influences, such as calm, focused, anxious, frustrated, overconfident, tired, fear and greed. Astro ranks the influences that come up most and shows the net P&L and win rate for each.

Notes is the space beside the trade log, also on the free plan. The editor has headings, lists and formatting, and you can place an image in the note, so a weekly review or market prep can keep a chart next to the thought behind it. Notes stay on the same account on iPhone and on the web.
